Golden Gaze

Golden Gaze, is a captivating original wildlife painting by British artist Lyndsey Selley.

Resting peacefully yet meeting the viewer with an assured, watchful gaze, the leopard is captured in a moment of complete ease. Fine detail across the face, eyes and distinctive markings contrasts beautifully with Lyndsey’s freer, more expressive approach to the surrounding composition.

Sweeps of gold, flashes of blue and spontaneous gestural marks punctuate the rich, dark background, bringing movement and contemporary energy to the painting. The warmth of the leopard’s coat sits beautifully against these cooler accents, while areas of loosened brushwork allow the animal to emerge naturally from its surroundings.

The title “Golden Gaze” reflects that sense of quiet confidence, a powerful animal completely comfortable within her world.

Wildlife has remained at the heart of Lyndsey’s work throughout her career. Combining close observation with expressive mark-making, her paintings seek to capture not only the physical beauty of an animal, but something of its individual character and spirit.
