Born to Rule

Born to Rule is an original wildlife painting by British artist Lyndsey Selley.

Meeting the viewer with an unwavering gaze, the lion is captured with an extraordinary sense of presence. Rich layers of amber, ochre and gold build the magnificent mane, while expressive flashes and splashes of gold break across the deep dark background.

Lyndsey balances carefully observed detail with energetic, instinctive mark-making, allowing areas of realism to give way to movement and expression. The result is a powerful contemporary interpretation of one of the natural world's most iconic animals.

The title Born to Rule reflects the quiet authority of the subject, powerful and assured without needing to demand attention.

Wildlife has remained at the heart of Lyndsey's work throughout her career, with her paintings seeking to capture not only the physical beauty of an animal, but its individual character and spirit..

Born to Rule is a unique original painting, signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of provenance.
