Elegant weightless and filled with upward motion, Ariel captures the feeling of release, a moment suspended between earth and air. The elongated figure rises from a solid foundation, arms extended as flowing forms sweep outward like wind caught drapery or unfurling wings. Though cast is bronze, the sculpture feels almost gravity-free.

The work draws inspiration from Ariel, the spirit of air in Shakespeare’s The Tempest, a being of movement , transformation and unseen power. Talbot interprets this not as a literal character, but as an essence, air given form, freedom given shape. The figure appears to be emerging, ascending,or dissolving into atmosphere, embodying lightness, liberation and transcendence. 

Talbots command of vertical line and fluid surface creates a compelling emotional contrast, strength below, lift above. As light travels across the bronze, the sense of motion deepens making the piece especially striking in open interior space.
