Born in London in 1963, Jonathan paints in oils, creating atmospheric works rooted in memory, light and lived experience. His style, often described as Romantic Realism, captures the emotional presence of place through quiet streets, shifting light and solitary figures.
Raised between London and Canvey Island and widely travelled in his youth, Jonathan began drawing early and left formal education to pursue a life in art. After working as a builder in his twenties, he committed fully to painting.
London remains one of his most compelling subjects. His scenes are not merely city views but recollections — moments suspended in time, evoking solitude, reflection and narrative. Figures occasionally appear as fragments of memory, sometimes even the artist himself.
Jonathan’s work is held in private collections internationally, with commissions including works for the Crowned Prince of Dubai and the King of Saudi Arabia.
This collection presents evocative city and coastal scenes that invite the viewer to pause, reflect and step into the story.
