Gary Samuel Smith

Gary followed his artistic ambitions to the USA in his mid-twenties where he was drawn to the New York art scene, worked and honed his talent whilst also developing his business interest as a restaurateur (an art in itself) at the same time.

Now residing and working principally in the heart of Germantown, Nashville Tennessee after buying a Victorian home in the 1990 and falling in love with the artistic enclave in the then rundown Germantown. Seeing the development of the district over the last 20 plus years into a thriving neighbourhood, inspired him to develop his figurative painting and sculpture further, with sculpture being his current passion which Gary says he approaches with the naivety that only a painter can bring to the subject.

These days Gary enjoys spending the majority of his time in Nashville but also spends time in the English countryside in his 500 year old stone built home which is also an inspiration and setting for his work.
