Meet The Artist Summer Series

This summer, we're delighted to be opening our doors for a series of special meet the artist evenings at Jarva Gallery.

Across four exclusive evenings, we will be welcoming Laura Critchlow, Ella Nicole, David Meredith and Steve McLoughlin to the gallery, giving visitors the opportunity to spend time with the artist, enjoy live demonstrations and discover exclusive new original works.

Whether you're a long-standing collector or simply enjoy learning more about the creative process, these evenings have been designed to be relaxed, informal and inspiring.

Guests will have the opportunity to engage directly with each artist, ask questions, hear the stories behind the work and experience original art in a unique and personal setting.

What to expect

From the moment you arrive, you'll be welcomed with a glass of fizz and the opportunity to explore the gallery at your leisure.

One of our gallery rooms will be dedicated entirely to the featured artist and event, showcasing a collection of newly released original works alongside a live demonstration throughout the evening. This provides a rare opportunity to observe the artist's techniques, ask questions and gain insight into their creative process.

Our second gallery room will remain open as normal, allowing guests to browse the wider collection, enjoy refreshments and spend time with fellow collectors and art lovers in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

Manchester Art Fair

Following a successful debut at Manchester Art Fair in 2024, Jarva Gallery is delighted to be returning for a third consecutive year in 2026.

The fair has provided a wonderful opportunity to introduce our artists to new collectors from across the UK, whilst reconnecting with many familiar faces from the Jarva community. We have been overwhelmed by the support received and continue to enjoy sharing our carefully curated collection with a wider audience.

We look forward to welcoming visitors to:

Fresh Art Fair: Cheltenham

In 2026, Jarva Gallery made its debut at Fresh: Art Fair Cheltenham, one of the UK's leading contemporary art fairs.

Bringing together a carefully selected collection of original paintings, sculpture and mixed media works, the fair provided an exciting opportunity to introduce Jarva Gallery and our artists to collectors from across the South West and beyond.

The response was incredibly encouraging, and we were delighted to meet so many new collectors whilst sharing the work of both established and emerging artists from our portfolio.

We look forward to announcing future participation and upcoming fair dates in due course.

Remembering Diana Syder

Diana was a gifted painter and poet whose work captured the beauty of the natural world through loose, contemporary landscapes, still lifes, and abstracts. Based in Taddington, she exhibited regularly at Jarva Gallery and inspired many through her teaching, workshops, and writing.

Following her diagnosis with a brain tumour in spring 2022, Diana’s creative process was sadly brought to a halt. Not long after a sell-out exhibition of her paintings, we received the heartbreaking news of her passing, before she could know the full extent of her success and the joy her work brought to others.

Around a year later, her husband Martin reached out to us regarding Diana’s remaining works. After visiting her studio, Lyndsey and Martin carefully selected a collection of pieces ,both complete and unfinished, to form an exhibition celebrating Diana’s life and creativity.

The event, held at Jarva Fine Art in Buxton, featured her artwork alongside her studio stool and easel, a poignant reminder of her enduring artistic spirit. In honour of Diana 10% of all proceeds were donated to Blythe House Hospice, a local charity who cared for Diana during her final months.

Northern Art Exhibition- Spring 2025

Celebrating the creativity and character of the North, Jarva Gallery presented a special exhibition showcasing both established and emerging northern artists.

The collection featured works by resident artists Roderick Thackray, Steve McLoughlin, Leigh Lambert, and Ben Ark, alongside newcomers Andrew Hunt and Mark Brierley.

This exhibition was distinguished by the individuality of each artist’s interpretation of northern life and landscape, from Roderick Thackray’s imagined industrial scenes shaped by his years in the mining industry, to Andrew Hunt’s expressive portraits capturing the warmth and humanity behind his northern characters.

The contrast continued in the landscapes of Mark Brierley and Steve McLoughlin, one evoking the mood and drama of the lakes and moors, the other celebrating the vibrancy of meadows and rivers.

A true celebration of northern talent, the exhibition reflected the diversity, humour, and authenticity that define the region’s creative spirit.
